PALLET HOMES 3D

LONDON, UK

03.2017 & 03.2018

Futurebuild (previously Ecobuild) is an annual industry event in the UK for built environment professionals which aims to be a catalyst for change, showcasing a range of innovations, from products, to processes and solutions. It is attended by over 27,000 industry influencers and shapers each year. For two consecutive years, from 2017-18, the Memusi Foundation, Freiraum Kollektive and engineers Buro Happold were invited to present the Pallet Homes project as an interactive exhibition.

While many of the exhibits focussed on projects in temporate climate zones, the Pallet Homes 3D exhibition transported attendees to view the pallet home design from three locations on the Memusi School site in Magadi, Kenya. In parallel, a team from Freiraum Kollektive and the Memusi Foundation answered attendee questions on the project, including on house layout, cost and material choices and discussed feedback, which filtered into the development of the design.
